Frequently Asked Questions

No, we are not a political party nor are we affiliated with any particular party.  We are a grassroots movement of independent individuals across the UK working together with a shared objective, to bring fundamental change to the way the nation is governed.

The idea is simple, however the execution of it is a little more complex. In short, we plan for Patriots United members to unite in a single bloc to vote for a candidate who, if elected, will implement the will of the people in Parliament using the Common Will Charter as a framework.

With a majority of our Community Champions in Westminster, we expect bills to be created and passed which will downsize central government and devolve powers of back to local councils.

Other fairer methods of democracy must also be implemented such as implementing proportional representation and binding referendums which allow for the people to have a more direct say in how the country is governed.

Before each candidate is invited to take part in the primary process, their own goals (as well as the party they are representing, if applicable) must align with the goals of the Common Will Charter.

Prospective candidates, whether party-affiliated or independent, are required to sign the Charter and if they secure the constituency seat, they commit to executing their duties in accordance with the Charter’s guidelines on local and national issues.

Should an elected representative put their own political ambition before the will of the people who placed them there, Patriots United members will apply pressure for them to be recalled, and a new representative elected in their place.

The Common Will Charter is a document outlining the shared beliefs and wishes of Patriots United members across the country on a wide range of issues, including health, education, defence, the economy, nationality and immigration.

All members of Patriots United understand the need to stand as one if we want to see real change. In our undemocratic first-past-the-post system we can only select one candidate, forcing us to fight fire with fire and use the same method to elect our candidate.

The democratic will of the people will always come first, and whichever candidate receives the most votes will be backed by all Patriots United members in the constituency to ensure a successful bloc vote, a Community Champion who will adhere to the Common Will Charter and represent everyone equally.

Candidates from a patriotic party background are most likely to be aligned with the values and goals of Patriots United, and they may take part in the primary on the expectation they will abide by the Common Will Charter if elected.

The large parties have proven that they are incapable of governing our country according to the will of the people, so candidates from the following parties will not be allowed to stand in our national primaries, nor do we believe they would seek to: Conservative and Unionist Party, Labour and Co-operative Party, Liberal Democrats, Green Party and SNP.

Yes, if existing members of Patriots United within a constituency would like to stand as an independent candidate, they are more than welcome to do so provided they adhere to the Common Will Charter like all other candidates.

Candidates who were not selected as the Community Champion, whether it is a party candidate or an independent, can choose whether or not to remain on the ballot paper, but will not receive the bloc vote of Patriots United members.

We use multiple metrics and statistics to decide the viability of a constituency seat including, but not limited to, factors such as: how the constituency has voted historically, the current MP and their majority, voter turnout percentages at general elections, if the constituency voted in the EU referendum to Leave or Remain, as well as many other demographic indicators.

At present we do not have any plans to establish a paid membership to become a part of Patriots United. Our costs are mainly time spent organising the movement, so we would appreciate most of all donations of your time to help the movement progress.

As the movement expands, such as canvassing constituencies, there may be costs which need to be covered such as flyers, or event hire in locations to host our primaries in, but the more people who join the movement the less costs for everyone involved.

Our main drive is to change the political scenery of the UK with The Right Vote strategy of tactical voting as a bloc.

We believe the fabric of this country is the people itself, and that strong communities make a strong nation, so we are also planning to organise many social events such as fetes and galas, marches and assemblies, street parties to boost community cohesion, as well as group charitable work within communities.

Every Briton across the nation is equally as valuable to the movement.  If you are not in a target constituency you can still make a valuable contribution to getting the country back on track by helping the other constituencies with tasks such as attending events, handing out leaflets in other areas, interacting with our social media, and contributing to group discussions.
